Seido Hollywood Dojo is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing community service through instruction in traditional martial arts practice and philosophy, and through support of other charitable institutions.
Seido Karate has been practiced in the Los Angeles Area for more than twenty-five years under the direction of Sei Shihan John Greene with the guidance of Kaicho Nakamura in New York City. Seido Karate Hollywood Dojo is dedicated to the continued practice and instruction of this traditional Japanese style of karate as part of the Worldwide Seido Karate Organization.
The primary focus of the Seido Karate Hollywood Dojo is not on competition with others. Rather, we seek to maximize the individual's potential in a supportive environment. Community service is an important way for us to improve the lives of those students we are privileged to teach, while also contributing to the larger community we live in. We offer programs that strengthen body, mind and spirit to all students including disabled and disadvantaged groups who have most to gain but often have the least access to traditional martial arts practice.

DOJO LIFE
A typical class at a Seido dojo consists of the following: stretching and warm-ups followed by review of basic techniques such as striking, kicking and blocking. This is followed by Kata (formal exercise) and self-defense techniques. Sparring, or Kumite, is practiced by more advanced students after they develop control and become comfortable with their technique. The beginner is encouraged to progress at their own pace with no pressure of competition. The competition is not with others, but within yourself. It doesn’t matter whether you are out of shape or in excellent condition, every Seido student progresses at their own chosen rate. The practice and study of Seido develops a healthy mind, body and spirit through physical training that is tough, but rewarding.
CHILDREN'S CLASSES
At Seido, we just don’t teach karate and fighting techniques, we also stress character development to kids along with sound nutritional advice for a healthy body and mind.
TEEN CLASSES
Teens experience a gradual change in attitude and self awareness after a short time. They are taught proper everyday etiquette, manners, and respect for themselves and for others in preparation for their later adult lives.
